Job Description
Primary Responsibilities Working in the field, involving collecting data on-site and analyzing data for leak detection and condition assessment projects Reviewing data for reporting purposes Planning and coordinating project logistics Conducting leak detection surveys of distribution and transmission water mains Creating leak sheets summarizing results for project and client distribution Supporting condition assessment measurements on distribution and transmission water mains. Summarizing results for project and client distribution. Installing and maintaining permanent monitoring infrastructure for leak detection purposes Performing installation, maintenance and readings on pressure, flow, temperature and other sensors. Managing and maintain equipment, QA/QC and inventories in a warehouse setting. Training and managing subcontract labor onsite for hardware installation and data collection. Training clients to use and maintain equipment onsite, as well as perform Echologics services. Performing Site inspections and documenting results in site inspection summary reports. Required Skills/ Background: A high school diploma or equivalent education Job or extensive volunteer experience performing hands-on outdoor work Ability to use basic hand tools Experience with field use of testing equipment, such as surveying, sample collection, underground utility locating, GPS, etc. Ability and desire to travel, often on short notice. Demonstrated ability to problem solve technical issues and work independently. Basic computer skills and experience using email, MS Office, MS Teams and MS Excel Ability to interact with clients, customers in a field environment Familiarity with water distribution systems, or experience in utility industries Confined space entry/rescue experience or certification (will provide training if certification not currently held) Must hold a valid driver’s license Critical competencies: Time Management, Team Communication, Total Work Systems, Written Communication, Customer Focus, Self-development These are considered assets: Experience in leak detection of water systems Engineering Technology/Technologist diploma in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, civil engineering technology, environmental science or similar Level 1 or higher water operator license Experience with installation of custom electronic equipment, such as security systems, sound systems, etc. Some knowledge and experience of the measurement of pressure and flow in water pipes Construction experience/ handling of power tools Experience interpreting GIS mapping interfaces and construction drawings Experience with coordinating work for small groups onsite Working Conditions & Physical Requirements: Site environment such as working in roadways or working in remote forested areas. Primarily based in New Orleans, LA with occasional travel throughout the United States (up to 30% of time) Ability to lift and push heavy objects; ability to lift 50lbs Ability to climb stairs, ladders and similar structures, and the ability to work on uneven surfaces Ability to work in small confined spaces temporarily Ability to perform outdoor work in all weather conditions: Work in sometimes extreme weather environments (cold/heat).
